The first Church service for the German Reformed Church was held in the home of Michael Amspacher in 1817. The Amspacher land was made patent by a letter from President Monroe Madison 26 March 1813. On 24 August 1818, Michael Amspacher and his wife Anna Marie deeded ground for a church and burial grounds to the Trustees of the German Lutheran congregation and Presbyterian Congregations for the sum opf $4.00. The deed is on page 170 book M in Deed Records of Fairfield County, Ohio.
Michael Amspacher served in the Revolutionary War under Captain Jacob Whetstone's Company in 1783. (PA Archives S5 V4 pg 254-70 Depreciation Pay)
