Amy Grimes raised her children in Orange Township, Hancock, Ohio. The property that she and her husband Reuben Wallace farmed was purchased 10 Jul 1837 by John Grimes of Columbiana County, Ohio. It is probable that this John Grimes was her father, or perhaps an Uncle.
There are three brothers found in the 1820 Census of Columbiana, Ohio. They are John, James and George Grimes. George Grimes was married to Hannah Brown 19 Sep 1813. George was born 22 Feb 1785 and died in Carroll County Ohio, 12 Jan 1859. He is buried in the Stillfork Church Cemetery, Augusta, Carroll,OH; James Grimes married Nancy Downs 13 Jun 1817. There are two recorded marriages for John Grimes; John Grimes married Elisabeth Dillen 19 Jan 1815 and a John Grimes married Catharine Allender 28 Mar 1816. It is possible that with a difference of fifteen months between the two marriages, that Elisabeth died shortly after marriage and John then married Catharine Allender. It is equally possible that there were two John Grimes in Columbiana County Ohio.
